Arrowhead Lake Company

Hotels
Smart…Comfortable…Inviting

There are several fine hotels at Lake Arrowhead -each managed by a skilled host, and each conforming to the high standards of the Arrowhead Lake Company. There are also auto camps, cabins and a great variety of housekeeping facilities for your comfort and pleasure during your stay.

And what hotels! Great, comfortable chairs and lounges –deep, restful sofas in front of crackling log fires –cool, smooth sheets on beds as comfortable as those in your own home, and a cuisine to tempt the appetite.

Here is service in the high mountains that you would ordinarily expect only from a metropolitan hotel in a city. Lake Arrowhead Lodge, the Tavern and the Village Inn are under the management of Mrs. Nellie N. Coffman, and her two sons, George B. Roberson and O. E. Coffman, of the Desert Inn.

Lake Arrowhead Lodge

Back from the Prussian blue of the lake, almost hidden in the fragrant pines, on a slight elevation over looking the water is Lake Arrowhead Lodge.

Like an old Norman English hall, The Lodge seems to radiate hospitality and comfort, perfectly in keeping with its surroundings. Inside is the great, beamed lobby where of an evening a snapping grate fire throws its hide-and-seek light to the ceiling. There is an atmosphere peculiar to the mountains and the lake, an individuality that makes you feel “at home” the minute you put your foot inside.

Here is the scene of smart dinner dances, supper dances and bridge teas. Here one sees, daily, famous people from all over the country –cinema stars, writers, actors, authors, and the smart social set from Los Angeles and Southern California.

The dining-room is spacious, bright and cheerful. It enjoys a wide view of the lake through great pines and firs. Its cuisine is excellent, and its service smooth. Throughout the summer The Lodge is the scene of smart tea and supper dance, with informality and sports wear as the keynote. Every room or suite at The Lodge has a private bath.
North Shore Tavern
Up a Green Meadow from the Water

Across the Lake, and up a green meadow from the water is the famous North Shore Tavern, having the appearance of a country club of Norman English architecture. Here the main building houses the long, low windowed hall with its pleasing note of cheerful informality.

The North Shore Tavern is ideal for guests with children. In the green meadow of the front of the Tavern is an ideal playfield, and in the shallow bathing cove beyond is just the place for children to wade and play in the water –far enough removed to be out of the way of their elders, but close enough for watchful eyes.

Unlike The Lodge, the Tavern houses its guests in snug, steam-heated bungalows –just far enough from the main building for seclusion, but close enough for quick and easy contact.

The rooms are bright and comfortable, lulled at night by the pines above, shaded in the daytime from the sun, and yet only a few steps from the activity of the main building and the dining-room.

The cuisine is excellent. Choicest of foods, daintily prepared and served in generous portions tempt the most jaded appetite. Fresh vegetables are included on all menus, and certified milk is always available.

Village Inn
The Village Inn
The Quaint Charm of Shakespeare

The Village Inn suggests the quaint charm of Shakespeare’s Stratford-on-Avon. It is a modern, comfortably appointed Inn, commanding a view of the glittering lake, half-hidden by pines, and yet near the edge of the Village.

The Inn is run on the European Plan. All rooms are steam heated, electric lighted, with hot and cold water. Here is comfortable informality –the genuine spirit of the mountains. No meals are served at the Inn, but The Lodge, the Cafeteria and a Sandwich Shoppe are all only a few steps away.

The Raven

Also located at the Village is the Raven, operated on both the American and the European Plan. The Raven is conveniently located near the center of all public activities and the Casino, where dances are held every night. Rooms are comfortable, and both single and double beds are of the best. Steam heat, electric light, and hot and cold water are piped to every room.
