Auto Camps, Courts and Grills
“ the star spattered sky
is an ideal roof”

Some there are to whom the star-spattered sky is the ideal roof, and the good green firs, four walls. Others like the primitive intimacy of a semi-tent, a dining-room and lodge building. While to others a little vine-covered cottage nestled among the trees is just the ticket. Whatever your taste, Lake Arrowhead offers you accommodation.

Cottage Grove
Bungalows…Dining Room and Lobby

Another hospitable group is provided in Cottage Grove. Here are bungalows containing accommodations for from two to ten people. A cozy comfortable lobby brings a note of hotel life into the grove, while a dining-room provides tempting, wholesome food. The cottages are equipped with kitchen (Rock Gas fuel), bath and large comfortable front rooms.

Camp Fleming
Hotel comfort…Camp Freedom

To those who would combine the comfort and convenience of a local lounge and dining-room with the more open, camp-like atmosphere of cabins or bungalettes, Camp Fleming is just the place.

Surrounded by the ever present pines, close by the great blue lake, Camp Fleming is the center of much happy activity. Every convenience is provided for your comfort. The cabins and housekeeping quarters are close by the lounge and dining-room, yet far enough removed to assure seclusion and privacy.

There are cottages here, comfortable quarters for from one to six persons, with housekeeping or non-housekeeping facilities. All conveniences are included at this camp; light, fuel for cooking, water, and sanitary plumbing. To those seeking the less formal life, Camp Fleming is just the place.

Chapman Court

Well supplied with all necessities, bedding, linen, cooking utensils, electric lights, water, garbage disposal, this court is a popular headquarters for families and private parties.

Public Camp Grounds
Campfires…Pines…A Tent

Camp fires twinkling in the dusk, the hunger-teasing aroma of coffee and sizzling steak –the soft song of campers in the distance –and hundreds of tents hidden in the pines and firs –there’s nothing quite like it –“camping out.”

For those who like the fun of camping, there is a beautifully maintained public auto camp. Conveniences include hot and cold showers, running water and modern lavatories. The charge is $1 per day per car irrespective of the number of people in the car. The charge includes the privilege of pitching tents, free fire wood, free use of showers and rest room facilities.

There is a fine road completely encircling the lake –the lake-edge-road, delight of hikers, riders and strollers. All portions of the Lake Arrowhead woods and surrounding country are easily accessible over good mountain roads. There are also roads connecting all private estates. A Ferry maintains regular schedule on the Lake from 7 a.m. to midnight and is on call after that hour for emergency at special rates. Regular fare is 15c.
