Auto Route
In winter motorists are
advised to use the Waterman Canyon Road from San Bernardino
to Lake Arrowhead –over
the High-Gear Road. Except after very severe snow storms
the road is always opened for traffic. A patrol maintained
by the State keeps the highway clear and in good order.
On rare occasions, the road is closed for a short period
until great snow plows can clear the way. Be sure to bring
overshoes or boots and warm underwear with you, and chains
for your automobile should be included in the equipment.

Fulfilling and Important Need
Worthy motives –motives
that were both idealistic and practical, prompted
the organization of the Arrowhead
Lake Company and the subsequent development of Lake
Arrowhead and the property surrounding it.
The organizers and
directors of the Arrowhead Lake Company are businessmen
of Los Angeles; all of them
prominent in financial circles. When the 5,000 acres,
embraced in what is now known as Arrowhead Woods, was
first presented to their attention it was immediately
manifest to them that there was a great need in Southern
California for a mountain playground of unusual character –a
place where people of refinement could enjoy, under
the most favorable conditions, the pleasures of outdoor
life, a mile high in the mountains amid scenes of incomparable
natural beauty, and yet within easy reach of Los Angeles
and all of Southern California.

While
a summer vacation, or the occasional week-end at Lake
Arrowhead is a delightful interlude in the year ‘round
life of Southern California, the real, deep benefit
and pleasure that is in this mile-high paradise can
